    A Comparative Analysis of the Trade Policies of the European Union, the United States, Canada and Japan

    This comparative analysis studies the trade policies of the four major industrialised trading nations or blocs: the EU, the US, Canada and Japan. The four countries are also known as “the Quad”. Using more than 70, mostly quantitative, indicators, it compares the openness for imports in industrial and agricultural goods as well as in services. Also included are the horizontal issues of free trade agreements and trade preferences towards developing countries.

    WTO-avtalens konsekvenser för u-länder

    I denna rapport bidrar Kommerskollegium med sin syn på WTO-avtalens konsekvenser för u-länderna utifrån tillgänglig forskning och analys. Rapporten är gjord på uppdrag av den svenska regeringen efter en beställning av riksdagen.

    Rapporten är främst bakåtblickande. Syftet med uppdraget har varit att sammanfatta hur u-länderna hittills har påverkats av WTO. Den nu pågående förhandlingsrundan ("Doharundan"), liksom de förhandlingsfrågor som ryms inom denna behandlas därför inte. Rapporten har således fokuserats på en utvärdering av effekterna av existerande bestämmelser i WTO om varuhandel, tjänstehandel, immaterialrätt och tvistlösning.

    Trade Facilitation

    - a Developing Country Issue

    This report focuses on the particular developing country perspective. It shows how trade facilitation can be conducted in all types of environment with the associated positive welfare effects as shown in the first part of the trade facilitation study. This second part demonstrates that even if the preconditions and requirements naturally varies a lot between developing countries, there are several aspects that are common and needs to be recognized. It further illustrates a vast array of possible cost efficient trade facilitation measures that might be extra suitable in a developing country context.
